Distribution Specialists Zaldy Ponce (left) and Benson Ayson (right) are recognized for their 35 years of service, loyalty and commitment to Foremost Foods, Inc. and Coca-Cola Beverage Co. (Guam), Inc. They are joined by Janice Castro, distribution manager of the beverage group of companies, in this photo taken at the warehouse in Barrigada Heights.

(BARRIGADA HEIGHTS, Guam)—Foremost Foods, Inc. and Coca-Cola Beverage Co. (Guam), Inc. recently recognized two employees who have been with the beverage group of companies for 35 years and counting.

In an annual awards ceremony recognizing employees who have been in service at Foremost and Coca-Cola, Benson Ayson and Zaldy Ponce were honored for 35 years of commitment and dedication to their job.

Zaldy started with Foremost Foods on Oct. 16, 1986 as a warehouse specialist and stayed on the job for 15 years.

For the next 12 years since June 2001 Zaldy held various positions at Foremost Foods including route sales specialist for dairy and dairy specialist on the production line of milk, water and ice cream when the Foremost plant was still operational.

Today, he covers the night shift in his role as a distribution specialist responsible for chilled products.

Zaldy is as forthright as he is diligent. If he sees a concern at work, he immediately informs his manager to avert any potential issue.

When asked why he remains with Coca-Cola and Foremost after 35 years, Zaldy says, “I invested my time with this company because of the previous benefits and longtime relationships I have built with my team over the years. I continue to work with Foremost and Coca-Cola Guam because of the experience I gained personally and professionally.”

A family man, Zaldy says that he appreciates the flexibility in his work schedule that the group of companies provides.

“I now care for my wife, and I appreciate the courtesy provided when I submit my personal requests,” Zaldy says.

Of his nighttime schedule, Zaldy says, “As a distribution specialist, I like the graveyard shift because as I get older, I can focus on my family. This allows me to do my job and still have quality time with my wife, kids, and grandchildren.”

Zaldy says he is dedicating his 35 Years of Service Award to his family.

“My family inspires me to do my best and continue to push forward with my career no matter the changes I go through with my company. My wife and family have always been supportive! This (award) is dedicated to my wife, Lydia Ponce and my three beautiful daughters, Elizabeth, Jennifer and Tiffany,” Zaldy says.

Benson, for his part, joined Foremost Foods on Nov. 7, 1986 as a warehouse specialist, a position he would hold for 11 years. In March of 1997, he became a route sales representative for ice and then for bottled water five years later. He is at present a distribution specialist covering the southern route including the Naval Base, the Naval Station, the Naval Hospital and Polaris Point. A time management professional, Benson ensures timely deliveries and strict compliance with regular truck inspections.

Known for being a conscientious team player, Benson would communicate with business consultants, the client-facing members of the beverage distribution group of companies, if deadlines could not be met, thereby managing client expectations.

“Zaldy and Benson are very reliable. The only time they would call out is if they are sick,” according to Janice Castro, distribution manager of Coca-Cola and Foremost. “They both take their jobs seriously. With both of them, I don’t have to worry about anything not getting done. They’re the kind of colleagues you’d wish to have on your team,” she added.

Marcos W. Fong, CEO of Foremost Foods, Inc. and Coca-Cola Beverage Co. (Guam), Inc. said, “Zaldy and Benson exemplify the type of dedicated and professional employees we are proud to have on our team. There are many more like them that see their work beyond just a job, but a service to our community.”

Foremost and Coca-Cola are the leading dairy and non-alcoholic beverage group of distributors serving Guam, the Northern Marianas and Micronesia since 1950. For career opportunities, visit https://glimpsesofguam.com/careers/ or email [email protected].

“Ring in the Retro Holiday Giveaway” winners awarded

Coca-Cola Beverage Co. (Guam), Inc. and Burger King Guam recently awarded four winners of “Ring in the Retro Holiday Giveaway,” their first-ever online holiday promo launched in 2020.

The four lucky winners are Tina DeLeon Guerrero of Hagatna; Jeanelyn V. Tugade, Dededo; John Flores III, Mangilao; and Estrellita L. Guzman, Maina.

Each of the winners received a set of valuable and vintage style Coca-Cola premium merchandise, such as a mountain smoker, bluetooth speaker cooler, mini refrigerator, popcorn maker, slushie machine, and hammock.

Burger King gave away family meal packages that included Whopper® Meals, Cheeseburger Kids Meals, and Burger King® Dessert.

Rolled out on Nov. 21, 2020 and concluded on Jan. 13, 2021, “Ring in the Retro Giveaway” distributed with qualified meal and/or beverage purchases at Burger King some 25,000 tickets with unique sequential numbering to enter the online raffle on cokeguam.com/retrogiveaway/.

Customers loved the ease with which they could enter online. Instead of filling out paper raffle entry forms and dropping them in drop boxes, entrants simply visited cokeguam.com/retrogiveaway/ to enter. The site is accessible from any device – smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop.

“Coca-Cola is committed to provide the platform that supports activities to fit the island lifestyle. While cooped up at home by social distancing restrictions due to the pandemic, people are ready to enjoy activities that bring a semblance of normalcy. This promo allowed them to do just that — enjoy a satisfying meal or Coke beverage and try their luck in a raffle promo that incorporates a strictly online mode of entry,” said Marcos W. Fong, CEO, Coca-Cola Beverage Co. (Guam), Inc.

According to Rudy Rodolfo, general manager, Burger King Guam, “Customers would call our stores to express how much they appreciated being able to join the promo from the comfort of their home or just about anywhere they could access the internet.”

Now that Guamanians have experienced the ease and convenience of joining a raffle promotion online, internet-based promotions will be the trend moving forward.

Employees of Coca-Cola, Foremost, Subway, Glimpses, and Chili’s and their families came out in full support of the 75th Guam Liberation Parade on July 21st. Coke and Foremost are designated Exclusive Beverage Sponsors of the 75th Guam Liberation. The proud group brand ambassadors braved the glinting sun to serve Coke and Foremost refreshments to thousands of parade watchers that lined the sidewalks from Adelup all the way to Chamorro Village.

Carrying crates of Coke sodas, lemonade, Foremost Blend Iced Coffee, and ice cream, the group staff, individually or in teams of two, passed packaged products to the thirsty throng.

At the end of the parade, Coke and Foremost Regional Sales Director Mike Brown and Distribution Manager Willy Onglau came up to the review stand and served Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero a bottle of Diet Coke, the maga haga’s favorite soda.

The 75th commemoration of Guam Liberation is particularly meaningful, as this is probably the last time that survivors of World War II could come together with the present generation to remember the lessons of the past and to honor the bravery and sacrifice of their forebears.

Marcos W. Fong, CEO, Coca-Cola Beverage Co. (Guam), Inc. and Foremost Foods, Inc. said, “The histories of Foremost and the island are so intertwined; it is our duty to support this important anniversary. Our company’s reason for being has always been to serve the people of Guam and we are proud of that heritage.”

BARRIGADA HEIGHTS, Guam—The region’s leading non-alcoholic beverage companies, Coca-Cola Beverage Co. (Guam), Inc. and Foremost Foods, Inc., have been designated as  the Exclusive Beverage Sponsors of the 75th Guam Liberation.

As the exclusive beverage sponsors, Coca-Cola and Foremost will provide hydration at all of the activities comprising the 75th Anniversary of Guam Liberation commemoration including the 13 Memorial Events, the nightly Carnival at Paseo, and the Liberation Parade.

The sponsorship underscores the enduring relationship between Guam and Foremost, that dates back to the year 1949 when Foremost was established on Guam in the early years of recovery following World War II to serve primarily the needs of military personnel. At the request of then Gov. Carlton Skinner, the company expanded its operations to serve the civilian population in 1950.

From its humble beginnings operating a small factory in the vicinity of Marbo near Andersen Air Force Base, Foremost has now grown to be the leading beverage company in the region, distributing dairy products, purified drinking water, ready-to-drink coffees, and a wide array of Coca-Cola beverages to the Western Pacific including the Northern Marianas, Palau, Majuro, Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap.

Marcos W. Fong, CEO, Coca-Cola Beverage Co. (Guam), Inc. and Foremost Foods, Inc. said, “The histories of Foremost and the island are so intertwined, it is a duty for us to support this important anniversary. Our company’s reason for being has always been to service the people of Guam and we are proud of that heritage.”
